On the second day of January, my true love said to me,
Bright white snow on the mountains, a crisp sunny day.

Oh how cheery it is to be in Crete at the start of a New Year’s beginning seat.

But not many are here to enjoy it – that’s what makes out-of-season travel so neat.

Happy New year to our guests past, present and future

Perhaps you should consider this year setting foot in Crete?

If that’s not your thing, ideas we will bring,
for other parts of Greece – now that would be neat!

Just wanted to you the New Year greet

A bit of Christmas cake, I am off to eat.

Soon the bridge being built – an overpass crossing Crete’s north coast “New National Road” – will allow the removal of the only traffic signals (traffic lights) in the Heraklion area of the National Road. Its span is standing as if an island of road in the air, ready for its gradual completion.

This will eliminate a traffic bottleneck at the exit off the main road towards the town centre, Knossos and local suburbs.

Two traffic signals remain – either side of Agios Nikolaos – on this main travel artery.

Speed cameras have been installed from Kissamos to Sitia on the new National Road (the main road along Crete’s north coast) . There are warning signs, two successive signs, before each camera.
The cameras do not yet appear to have been activated. When they will be, we know not – we watch with some attention and dismay!
It is of course possible that in liberty-loving Crete these ominous grey metal boxes will not be brought to function, ever. We will see whether another restriction on personal choice and responsibility is allowed to smother freedom.

It is a beautiful, clear and sharp, bright sunny morning across most of Crete this November 24 day.

Greetings from Greece.

In case you are tempted by warmer weather this late in October, you might like to know this morning’s temperature at just after “second coffee” time, ten o’clock is between 20 and 22 degrees in Crete – depending on which part of this large island you started the day.

Sometimes there is sunny weather in Crete – the southernmost island of size in Greece – on any given day in the winter. Worth a try…

Just a note to remind you that a few days of good weather in the south of England, after the recent bank holiday weekend, may be misleading!

To be sure to “stock up” with inspiration, traveller’s tales, great experiences and last but not least SUNSHINE, there are still a couple of months for that visit to Greece! (Probably more as sunny weather is not a rare sight in southern parts of the country during the winter)

Temped? Want to be informed? Here’s the place… http://www.SuperbGreece.com and look at “INFORMATION : Our Travel Guides” – it’s a good and helpful place to start. Wait, there’s more – you can always ask any questions you may have and know you will receive informed, helpful answers

Just curious about the weather? Check it out and read about it > http://www.cretetravel.com/weather_Crete.htm
