January

On the second day of January, my true love said to me,
Bright white snow on the mountains, a crisp sunny day.

Oh how cheery it is to be in Crete at the start of a New Year’s beginning seat.

But not many are here to enjoy it – that’s what makes out-of-season travel so neat.

Happy New year to our guests past, present and future

Perhaps you should consider this year setting foot in Crete?

If that’s not your thing, ideas we will bring,
for other parts of Greece – now that would be neat!

Just wanted to you the New Year greet

A bit of Christmas cake, I am off to eat.

Every peak snow-covered!

Posted In: Crete, weather by Roger

The White Mountains (“Lefka Ori”) of Crete are boldly, snow-covered with a white-white layer. Not a peak, not a speck of rock protrudes at top with anything but glistening-white-in-the-sun “pow” of brightness.

Quite a sight this morn’ in the southern Med island.

Oh sunny, breezy, clear-as-a-bell day !

November

November waltzes in after a fairly heavy rainfall in Crete – touch and go after our torrential gorilla of just over a week ago…but manageable. A milder day introduces the month with 18-22 degree peaks reached for short periods.
But what rain there has been turned the sea muddy in colour and muddy in substance.

Again the mountains in Crete, base camp for the south of Europe, are tip-topped in white sugary snow. Very beautiful in the dance of clouds and sun on 1st November 2006.

Expect – hot tip – new hotels and houses on Crete’s fascinating website for desirable places to stay that make the heart sing and take your breath away. From the start of the New year there will be even more new offerings to wet your travel appetite on http://www.Crete-Hotels-Rooms.com the member of the SuperbWorld and CreteTravel.com stable for splendid and beautiful, houses, villas and hotels in Crete.

This is the time when Xmas gifts (or perhaps Thanksgiving gifts before that) come to mind. You could buy someone a holiday as a gift. Choose Crete or one of the select few locales on offer in the rest of Greece at http://www.SuperbGreece.com – the place where they get the service of a personal concierge-like consultant, all starting with the most original, user-friendly websites (the people are pretty user-friendly too ! ) .

Of course if it’s too early to start planning your trip today…make a note and come back in January, when the new year suggests new trips!

The recent torrential, venomous rainfalls have caused much damage to private and public property, farmland and even causing loss of life. Unnecessary. Or it should in a better ” designed ” world.

As a tribute and we hope, encouragement to those who have been most affected, we show the beauty of the White Mountains of Crete just 2 days after the flooding and mud-gushing, the tips and the peaks showing the first snows of the year
