Don’t be late for brunch (oh woe is me, whatever happened to Beachbum Burt’s – the best bunchin’ in the South Bay ?) !

Daylight Saving starts Sunday March 8 for the US and Canada.

If you wake up on Sunday and didn’t adjust your clocks the night before – move them forward 1 hour (make 9 look like 10 ) – don’t want to be late for brunch now, do you?

Best wishes to and for America and the world on Inauguration day.

America! The people of America, maintain your lead, your shining example for the future of progress and liberty.

Greece long ago, was the source for democracy and the admiration of knowledge, progress and intelligence. Still a great country to visit, Greece is, but lost along the path with regard to freedom and democracy. America show us how….reinvigorate the ideals the USA was founded upon.

If you hold an American driving license and are visiting Greece, renting a car is a great way (not surprisingly) to see the country, the real down-home countryside, the villages, the cute and fascinating places.

But. Yes, but!

You should obtain an international driving permit – get one at AAA (“triple A” ) > http://www.aaa.com
It’s easy, cheap and it is (technically) required.

Also if driving – be more relaxed, be prepared and become (very quickly) familiar with some basic ways of driving here that will help you relax, fit in and enjoy it (these apply all over Greece even though written originally for the big island of Crete > http://www.cretetravel.com/Driving_in_Crete.htm

(There is also some good information on our very own car rental site www.crete-car-rental.com and you can inquire about your car AND ask questions about the routes, roads and places you are planning to visit )

The USA.
Every year the value of Independence Day grows.
What it means today is freedom – that is my opinion and an important concept.

America the beautiful – stay that way. You shine like a beacon in a world too often drifting towards the greyness of twilight and on occasion, the desperate darkness of night.

Think daily in the year ahead, how to cultivate (yes, still), how to maintain the free and enterprise-favouring culture that has created the country everyone wants to visit, many want to move to and most (even if they jealously refuse to admit it) admire and aspire to emulate.

Be free, be indepedent, Live long and prosper.
Happy Independence Day, The Fourth of July.

As the population of the USA is estimated to reach three hundred million today – Tuesday, October 17, 2006 – we say well done…from a small country, Greece, with a population a little more than that of New Jersey and less than the population of Florida.

Keep on keepin’ on!
