In case you are tempted by warmer weather this late in October, you might like to know this morning’s temperature at just after “second coffee” time, ten o’clock is between 20 and 22 degrees in Crete – depending on which part of this large island you started the day.
Sometimes there is sunny weather in Crete – the southernmost island of size in Greece – on any given day in the winter. Worth a try…
Welcome a shower !
A little rain here and there in Greece yesterday and today – the first day of September.
September is here, a little cooler…but in a way it is “just right”
Mostly really warm (but not fry-your-elbow-on-the-cafe-table hot) and yet mild, softer…enjoyable!
Happy September – Kalo Mina!
British Weather – should be good…but for how long?
Just a note to remind you that a few days of good weather in the south of England, after the recent bank holiday weekend, may be misleading!
To be sure to “stock up” with inspiration, traveller’s tales, great experiences and last but not least SUNSHINE, there are still a couple of months for that visit to Greece! (Probably more as sunny weather is not a rare sight in southern parts of the country during the winter)

UK rain and national holiday means Greece is the temptress
Have a happy holiday our UK friends and acquaintances – but if after the 25th August weekend you feel rain is more likely than custard, wet roads more frequent than soggy vegetables, water droplets sneaking their way down your neck as you sprint from car to club or pub…Greece has at least two more months of good enjoyable, friendly, warming weather to offer you.
Guinness may be good for you, and Cadbury’s chocolate may melt when you leave a bar on the seat in your car – but Greece is happiness when you stay in just the right place!
Crete, Santorini and the Peloponnese for a real dynamic, rejuvenating trip – some good sun and far fewer crowds.
So September and October still offer summer fun – romance and reward, splendid meals, friendly welcomes and gorgeous scenery.

In any case get the help you need to get the relaxation or stimulation you need – in Greece !
The White Mountains (“Lefka Ori”) of Crete are boldly, snow-covered with a white-white layer. Not a peak, not a speck of rock protrudes at top with anything but glistening-white-in-the-sun “pow” of brightness.
Quite a sight this morn’ in the southern Med island.

Oh sunny, breezy, clear-as-a-bell day !
Been mild – many days reaching 20-22 degrees centigrade during October and November and even the first 2 days of December have been generally sunny. Cold at night? Yes. Winter? Yes. But moments (many) to enjoy on a balcony or terrace, outdoors with light jacket sitting sipping coffee at a cafe…yes!
Just thought you’d all like to know.
For over 4 days 40 degree-plus temperatures (asburdly high for June) have caused discomfort and increased health and fire danger throughout Greece, mainland and islands.
Thankfully this heatwave is over.
So if island-hopping is something you always dreamed of….a few days on one Greek island, several on another and then – after a week or some weeks hopping on and off ferries, a chance to review notes and pics, videos and sound files and compare island characterisics, rythms and style…..the updated information here will inspire and help you > http://www.cretetravel.com/To_and_from_Crete/Ferries_Crete_Santorini.htm (see the bottom of the page ! )
