The "Delicious Chania Food Tour" invites you to discover a different side of the town of Chania by joining the Cretans in what is probably their favorite activity: easting!!

Your local guide will meet you in the Old town or at your nearby hotel and take you for that essential eye-opener, Greek Coffee, at one of the landmarks traditional coffee places (kafenion) of the Chania's old town. You will get an explanation of the role of food in Cretan life, and of the eating habits of the Cretans in particular.

Next, it's a treat of bougatsa, a traditional cream-filled phyllo treat, served in a historical place, a building that dates back to the Venetian time.

Remember to pace yourself – there are several more food stops to follow!

Time for the authentic souvlaki at a particular grill spot before heading into traditional spices places with a variety of local condiments and herbs. Find out how these items are used in Greek cooking while you browse the shelves for exotic cooking ingredients.

The last stop of the tour is for a selection of scrumptious Cretan Meze (like tapas, only better!!). Here you will be able to try classic appetizers, a variety of local cheeses, olives, dakos, cured meat, and traditional dishes.

When you finally clear your plates away our mission will be accomplished – you will leave with a full and happy stomach and a much better understanding of the world of Cretan food.

Honest Reviews

Our Chania Food Tour was just special, worth every penny. Very many thanks Yiannis for organizing this for us. It's wonderful to learn more about Crete from people who really know it and who care deeply about its gastronomy, its history, and its well-being.
- Patrick F.

Dear Yiannis, Kalimera! Thank you for enquiring about our experience.  The old town tour was pleasant and informative.  Roussos demonstrated good local knowledge and he was friendly and very helpful.  The tour was an excellent starting experience in Chania.  We would recommend it to anyone visiting Chania for the first time. Kind regards,
- Anna

Hello Yiannis, We had an excellent visit! The tour was very enjoyable and the guide was very informative.
- Dave

Good morning! We loved it! And.. was more than I expected.. from the history to the many wonderful dishes and even, yes.. the raki! The only thing that I might suggest would be the portions... they were more than ample for us.. we were stuffed! But then... some tourists might be able to eat all of the many dishes!
Note: This was totally our fault.. but we missed our cruise departure as I had thought it was midnight rather than noon! We flew out later than afternoon and into Malta before out ship arrived. BUT... we would not have changed a thing and were happy we missed it to have had such a great tour of Chania! Thank you very much!! Best,
- Kathy

It was a great experience with our expert guide! A semi-private tour wich felt you are traveling with friends, not with a guide. And greatly appreciated that no one force you, that you have to buy something during the tour. Well done!
