Easter is just seven weeks away (or eight here in Crete, Greece) and by the time it arrives, spring will have well and truly sprung.
The hills and mountains will be carpeted with wild flowers and lush green meadows, the beaches will be tempting bathers with their pristine sands and electric blue waters, market stalls will be groaning with a bounty of flavour-filled delicacies, and the sun will (almost certainly) be benignly surveying the whole from azure skies.
Easter is also a time of joy and stirring traditions, and the streets and squares of cities, towns and villages across Crete will be enlivened by heartfelt religious processions and more profane celebrations of spring.
