description
Lefka Ori is a family-run restaurant - taverna located in Sfakia Village, the southernmost part of Europe, and absolutely still the wildest and most natural part of Crete.
A place where the mountains meet the sea, and once was the cradle of European culture, today a place to recover away from mass tourism, surrounded by the Lybian sea and the home country of the people, whose hospitality is legendary.
Lefka Ori is our suggestion at Sfakia Village, since we loved its traditional and authentic atmosphere and its delicious Cretan food.
It is situated right beside the small harbor where you can watch the fishing boats as you dine at the terrace.
Dishes on the menu are made from fresh local products and include specialties from Sfakia, locally caught fish, different kinds of local meat, and vegetarian dishes, accompanied by local open wines and other bottled Greek wines.
Andreas’ wife, Evangelia, also makes the traditional Sfakiani pie, which is a special pancake filled with soft cheese and topped with honey, and a pancake filled with local wild spinach. Andreas’ moussaka is reputed to be the best in Crete!
Do not miss during your stay (the same family runs the Lefka Ori Hotel too) or visit Sfakia Village.
