Every year in summer, Casa dei Mezzo Chamber Music Festival, founded by Gunnar Strømsholm on the South East Coast of Crete, takes place in this small village of east crete.

A music festival worthy of Vienna or London, in Makrigialos!

This unique music festival offers you an unforgettable opportunity to experience live performances by world-class artists in the beautiful and intimate setting of Villa Casa dei Mezzo, Makrigialos, Crete. It makes an important cultural contribution to the summer season in Makrigialos and it is the only annual classical chamber music festival that is held on Crete.

Apart from the concerts held at Casa dei Mezzo in Makrigialos, again there will be a lunchtime concert at Villa de Mezzo in Etia and for the first time a classical music concert at Toplou Monastery.

Makrigialos is a find and has one of the best beaches at this end of Crete, with tavernas and sand which shelves to gently that you begin to think you are going to walk the 320km to Africa.

Makrigialos could be used as a base for exploring the beauty of the wider area of South-East Crete. Apart from the beautiful beaches stretching from Ferma to Goudouras, it is worth visiting the surrounding villages, walking in the canyon of Pefki or in the lush Orino Gorge.
