Samaria or the Samaria Gorge is one of the main sights of Crete, the second most visited (following the Minoan palace of Knossos), and by far the most popular walk.

The Samaria Gorge - Private Tour 

We leave early (before 07.00 am ) in the morning and passing through several beautiful villages we reach the plateau of Omalos.

Our hike will last approximately 6 hours and will take us, along a breathtaking and constantly changing landscape, to Agia Roumeli, a laid-back coastal village by the South coast, accessible only by boat.

The tour will allow you a chance to experience this must-see natural phenomenon at a slower pace, attended to by a specialized mountain guide.

While descending the gorge you will receive extra personalized attention from your mountain guide who will give you information about the history of the area, the flora and fauna. There is plenty of time to take it easy, stop to rest, take pictures, eat snacks, etc.

At the base of the gorge, you can enjoy a refreshing swim and lunch at one of the local tavernas at Agia Roumeli Village.

After an hour’s sail to the nearby port, you will be transferred back to Chania in the evening by our deluxe mini-coach.

Important Note

- The hike is long and strenuous, which makes the tour suitable only for guests who are fit and in good health, exercise regularly, and have some experience in walking long distances. Because of the steep downhill in parts and the Stoney terrain all the way, it is not a tour to take if there are any knee or back problems.
- The tour is not suitable for minors under 10 years old and seniors over 65 years old

- Snacks and small water bottles, to be refilled in the numerous springs along the route. The latter two can be purchased in Omalos plateau during our shortstop prior to the hike.
