Villa Kirvas is a really lovely positioned villa in an utterly idyllic and privileged location less than 20 meters from a lovely beach and cleverly designed ideal for big families and a big group of friends.

The blue of the Libyan Sea, the fascinating sand and shingle beach, the serenity of the landscape combined with the famous Cretan hospitality will make your holiday unforgettable, special, relaxing.

Villa Kirvas ( 160m2, up to 14 guests, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, private pool & BBQ) is a really lovely positioned villa in an utterly idyllic and privileged location less than 20 meters from a lovely beach and cleverly designed ideal for big families and a big group of friends.

Framed by lovely mature gardens and sprinkled with loungers, the attractive outside area(3200 m2) is an idyllic and luxurious spot to unwind and soak in the views, or simply immerse yourself in a good book with a chilled glass of local wine to hand.

The Villa consists of two adjacent buildings, entirely independent of one another but attached to make them an ideal choice for two or three families holidaying together.

The first building has two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. Downstairs is one bedroom with one WC and shower and the living room with two sofa beds ( quality single mattresses diameter 90 cm. x 200 cm.) with the kitchen.

There is a barbecue for dining and beachside relaxation all day and into the warm, starry nights there is a pergola taking full advantage of the spectacular location.

Ten minutes away is the city of Ierapetra, from where you can take a boat trip to the incredible Chryssi island. Whilst less than an hour away is the famous Ag. Nikolaos and Elounda Village.

Kakia Skala Beach or Ferma Beach is a great beach located at the exit of the lush Gorge of Milonas with the waterfalls, that are worth a visit.

The beach is partly sandy and pebble with calm clear waters and on the backside of the beach, there is some shade under tamarisk trees.

Most locals use to call the beach Kakkos because of the nearby Kakkos Bay Hotel, located 200m on the west and just a few of them call it Kakia Skala. Therefore most of the people know the beach as “The beach east of Kakkos Bay”.

Explore other fairly quiet beaches nearby like Koutsounari, Agia Fotia, Galini, Achlia, and Mavros Kolimbos or the interesting villages of Pefki and Agios Stefanos in the mountains above Makrigialos. Walk a small gorge in the area or visit the Kapsa Monastery nearby. Visit Ierapetra and take a boat trip to Chrissi Island (Gaidouronisi), with the white sands and cedar trees.

Good To Know

- There’s a preferred minimum stay of a week.

- A car is recommended for getting around the island and exploring superb nearby beaches, small picturesque villages, gorges, etc.

The Villa consists of two adjacent buildings, entirely independent of one another but attached to make them an ideal choice for two or three families holidaying together.

After five successful years, this year (2019) we will renovate both buildings and we will offer them as one, in order to have more space and more privacy!

The second building upstairs has two bedrooms with one bathroom. Downstairs is the living room with two sofa beds ( quality single mattresses diameter 90 cm. x 200 cm.) with the kitchen.

There is a barbecue for dining and beachside relaxation all day and into the warm, starry nights there is a pergola taking full advantage of the spectacular location.

Eating

Villa Krivas has a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area for the appropriate number of guests.

Surprise welcome basket upon your arrival.

Ferma has a few Tavernas, and there is one just a 1-minute stroll away, with a string of old-fashioned tavernas serving fresh-grilled fish, home-baked vegetarian dishes, and the always best choice for Summer Greek salad, all accompanied by a good wine or maybe a retsina.

200 meters west from Villa you will find another superb restaurant, Psaropoula, maybe the best in the area with fresh food, nice quality especially their seafood is excellent opened daily for lunch and dinners.

Kalliotzina taverna in Koutsouras village for yummy, unpretentious home cooking from 2 sisters, overseen by a silent granny.

Nearby Makrigiallos Village has plenty of Tavernas, and is just 2 km away, with a string of old-fashioned tavernas serving fresh-grilled fish, home-baked vegetarian dishes, and the always best choice for Summer Greek salad, all accompanied by a good wine or maybe a retsina.

Kids

Big families are welcome at Villa Krivas.

The beach of Ferma or Kakia Skala has a very gentle incline that makes it particularly suitable for children.

Activities

- Villa Kirvas is an ideal base for a relaxing vacation by the sea on a pleasantly uncrowded beach.

- Good swimming, relax, reading books, enjoy your family, and boat trips to Koufonisi. Explore other fairly quiet beaches nearby like Koutsounari, Achlia, Galini, Mavros Kolimbos, and Koutsouras or the interesting villages of Pefki and Agios Stefanos in the mountains above. Visit Ierapetra and take a boat trip to Chrissi island (Gaidouronisi), with the white sands and cedar trees.

- Hikers can explore marked, pine-shaded tracks through the Pefki valley, a few miles east of Makriyialos; climb the rocky 1500-meter summit of Afendis Estravromenos; or trek through the breathtaking Thripti gorge that gashes through its flanks (start from Orino, 30 mins drive away).

- Small excursions should include the Kapsa Monastery above the gorge of Perivolakia (about 10 km east of Makrygialos) and the remains of the medieval village of Vóila. You can also make longer trips to the famous palm beach of Vaï (but don’t go in July or August when it gets sadly crowded), the excavations of the Minoan palace at Kato Zakros and the so-called Gorge of the Death, the lively seaside town of Agios Nicolaos on the northern coast, the Lasithi plateau famous for its 7,000 (or so) windmills, or, closer to ‘home’, the island of Koufonisi, to see the remains of the ancient Roman theatre and to go for a swim from the wonderful sandy beaches.

- There are numerous fine beaches in the nearby Makri Gialos region. Whilst the most popular during the summer is the Makri Gialos main beach, which offers all facilities including water sports. You can also reach several other beaches within a short walking distance.

- To the east of Makri Gialos there are two beaches below the Sunwing Hotel, reached by walking down the right-hand side of the hotel past the bungalows belonging to Sunwing. Further east takes you to Diaskari beach, which has wooden pergolas shading sunbeds and hammock sand is home to a small traditional taverna.

- Further still, by taking the road to Kalo Nero, you will reach Amathi beach and several other small coves and beaches which are often deserted although there are no facilities on the beaches.

- To the west of Makri Gialos the first beach is Kalamokania, further on there are beaches along the coast Koutsouras and Mavros Kolimbos and very attractive horseshoe-shaped bays at Agia Galini and Agia Fotia.

- There are many fine villages in the Region of Makri Gialos, all with their own particular merits. It is well worth hiring a car to visit these villages, sample some of the local atmospheres, hospitality and culture, visit their splendid and historic churches, and enjoy spectacular views as most are mountain villages. Aori, Agios Stephanos, Azali, Bembonas, Chrysopigi, Lapithos, Lithines, Orino, Pefki, Pervolakia, Schinokapsala, Stavrohori.

How To Get There

Villa Kirvas is located at Ferma beach with views of the sea, 10 km from Ierapetra Town in Eastern Crete.

- By Air
From May through mid-October there are direct charter flights to Sitia (53.5 km from the village) and, more frequently, to the capital Heraklion (102 km). Tickets can be bought in advance for almost all flights via our partner website.

- By Sea
"The journey is the thing". A superb way of enjoying the journey to Crete is to fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus (Pireas) - the port serving Athens. A still-romantic way to travel by the overnight ferry from Piraeus to Heraklion Port (105km). Tickets can be bought in advance for all ferries via our partner website.
