description
Periplous Seaside restaurant is a unique place set in an idyllic and quiet location in Tabakaria neighborhood just a few minutes walk from the city center of Chania town.
Opened recently on the Halepa waterfront this modern newcomer to the Chania culinary scene shows real promise.
An exceptional cozy restaurant with superb quality of food, stunning sea views, and breathtaking sunsets... bliss!
In the base of one of the old tanneries, the restaurant opens onto a pretty sunset-facing terrace for romantic and delicious meals, a cinematic landscape making your meal by the seaside a memorable, unique experience.
The food is excellent, the service is friendly and genuinely attentive and the sommelier, Iro, notable in her advice.
Tabakaria is a very distinct part of the historical Chalepa neighborhood.
Yet, in the last 30 years, it became the place where locals love to hang out.
The neighborhood also holds a phenomenal place at the history of Crete.
Just a block away from the property, in 1878 the “Treaty of Halepa” was signed between the Greeks and the Turks which granted the autonomy of Crete where it is also located the house of Eleftherios Venizelos, the most famous prime minister that Greece had, the Greek Embassy, the old French Academy and the palace of Prince George.
Periplous Seaside takes the food seriously, using local, pure and sustainable products from small, selected, local producers.
Head chef Christos Saridakis, along with his team, creates a gastronomic journey in Cretan cuisine with an ode to fish.
The restaurant has developed its gastronomic identity based on the approach and redefinition of the rich cultural heritage of Cretan gastronomy, giving a modern expression to the execution and presentation of the dishes.
Periplous Seaside features an indoor and outdoor dining area literally in the seafront of Tabakaria and it operates the whole year.
The staff is very attentive and the food is excellent.
The Mediterranean menu is well planned and the wine list is superb (extra bonus the exceptional sommelier).
Please note you should book in advance. The place is very popular already.
The state-of-the-art Molteni open kitchen combined with the marble-tiled interior counterpoint a unique timeless finesse.
