The Palace of Knossos is the most important archeological site on the island. It is the oldest palace in Europe and one of the four Minoan palaces. It acted as the administrative and religious center of Minoan (Bronze Age) Crete. The legendary king of Knossos was Minos, son of Zeus and Europa. The palace is the labyrinth of Greek Mythology.
Your certified guide, (please note extra cost) will offer you a 2-hour tour through the fascinating story of the Minoan period and learn about the Minotaur and Ariadne.
He will be glad to reply to all your questions and hopes to pass to you a big part of his love and knowledge for the first European civilization, the Minoan Civilization of Crete.
Your tour continues with the Heraklion Archeological Museum, one of Europe’s most important museums that bring together archaeological finds from all over Crete, covering over 5500 years of the island’s history. Your professional guide will talk you through the most important collection of Minoan antiquities. After the visit to the museum, our escort will drive you through the city of Heraklion as we are heading towards the national road to Rethymnon.
Following the national road to Rethymnon, we are going to visit a traditional Greek tavern where we will have our lunch break. After the meal and driving through the city of Rethimnon we follow the national road by the sea to Chania where our day comes to an end by dropping you off at your hotel.

Hi Yiannis, We loved every minute of our day. Theodore was very charming and funny as well as knowledgeable about Knossos, Minoan and Greek history and customs . The car was luxurious so we could just relax and look at the countryside and listen. We had fun at Knossos and the museum. We both like history and art so it was great to have no pressure to race through anything. We then had a very memorable lunch in Heraklion, with incredible food and lots of stories from Theodore. He is very easy company, and it felt like we had known him for ages. I'm so glad we decided to do this trip and very grateful that you could arrange it at short notice. Please also pass on our thanks again to Theodore for giving us such a wonderful day. Many thanks to you Anna and Mark
