A traditional kafenion (Greek Cafe) with caned chairs outside the reception area sets the village ambiance of this peaceful resort.

The Rooms

There are 222 apartments and suites in four categories.

Family apartments and seafront suites have the main bedroom and living area, whilst superior family apartments have larger living rooms with pullout sofa beds, and bigger bathrooms. Sea-view suites (best for couples) are like studios, with living rooms, spacious bedrooms (mattresses are rather hard), large sea-view balconies and kitchens with cooking utensils, and two-ring hotplates (you can request a microwave). Deco is chintzy vintage: antique furniture, flowery quilts, olive green furnishings, and tiled floors.

These rooms – strung out along the rocky coastal path and further from the main resort – are best for privacy (young families do better in the main resort area – wooden railings along the coastal path leading to these suites are low).

Our 40m2 Family apartment conveniently combines a twin-bedded bedroom and a spacious sitting area to comfortably accommodate up to four people. Each room has direct garden access complete with a table and chairs.

Nestled amidst the perfumed gardens the family apartments cover a cozy living space of 40 square meters. Charmingly appointed and furnished, the apartments feature one twin bedded room, a separate living room with two folding beds, a kitchenette where guests can cook their meals, a bathroom, and spacious furnished balconies with a partial sea view of the Mirabello Bay.

- Superior Apartment village view (60 m2)
The Superior Apartments consist of one twin bedded room, a separate living room with four folding beds, a kitchenette, and one bathroom with entrance from both bedroom and living room. All are spread out in the gardens and have spacious furnished balconies with garden views.

Covering a gracious living space of 60 m2 the Superior Family Apartments ensure a truly enjoyable stay with contemporary comforts in their brilliantly appointed interiors. Nestled amidst the gardens all superior apartments consist of one twin bedded room, a separate living room with four folding beds, a kitchenette where guests can create their own light meals, a bathroom, and fully furnished balconies overlooking the sea.

- One-Bedroom Suite Seaview (40 m2)
Set on the second row from the water’s edge the Sea View Suites ensure a stay beyond comparison in an area of 40 square meters. All Sea View Suites feature one twin bedded room, a separate living room with two folding beds, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and spacious fully furnished verandas offering amazing
views to the Mirabello Bay.

- One-Bedroom Suite Seafront (40 m2)
Brilliantly situated along the first row from the water’s edge, the one-bedroom seafront suites capture the essence of seafront comfort while offering the most majestic panoramic views of the Mirabello Bay. The seafront suites consist of one twin bedded room, a separate living room with two folding beds, a kitchenette, one bathroom with furnished verandas.

Eating

Candia Park Village offers you the possibility to choose self-catering, or half- or full-board so there’s something for every budget.

Restaurant Agapi is the main restaurant in the pretty central square where breakfast and dinner are served. There’s a small à la carte menu – hardly worth bothering because the buffet has a good choice of starters, salads and hot dishes (from moussaka to shepherds pie); there’s a separate buffet for young ones with usual staples (chips; meatballs; ice cream, etc.).

Breakfast is excellent with plenty of variety: dried fruit, nuts, and cereals; olives, cheeses, meat cuts, and hot dishes (including a pancake station). No fresh juice, but good coffee.

The Kafenion in reception serves typical Cretan raki with meze snacks – and you can also have a typical Cretan dinner.

To Fill Tavern down by the beach serves seafood and snacks.

Indoor-outdoor restaurant located in Village Square, near the pool area, offers a rich buffet breakfast and a great variety of ‘A LA CARTE’ dishes for the evening meal with continental and Cretan specialties.

- Kafeneion :
Traditional Greek Kafeneion with a magnificent view of the blue waters of Mirabello bay opens every evening offers authentic local delicacies raki ouzo and local wine.

Kids

Candia Park Village features a great range of child facilities and family activities that are sure to enchant both children and adults.

One of the many reasons this place is particularly popular for people with kids is the incredibly wonderful kids club here. The staff are super friendly, there are great activities on offer, and there is an indoor facility as well as a large playground outside.

The Mini Blues Club for kids between the ages of 4-12 featuring a special kids program with thematic days, educational games, rehearsals and costumes for the theatre, arts and crafts, face-painting, and treasure hunt to the hotel’s specially designed children swimming pool or a party on the beach.

Children can be left in the care of the supervisors from age 4, free of charge. Every day the kids club entertains such mini dance parties, arts & crafts or watching a cartoon.

Very family-friendly are the serviced apartments here, rather than just standard double rooms, as they come with a small living/dining room and kitchen as well as a large terrace. This will especially appeal to families with babies.

About 3km north of Vai is the ancient Minoan site of Itanos, It may appear fairly desolate today, but this was an important site.

How To Get There

Candia Park Village is ideally situated in a privileged setting - overlooking the Mirabello Bay, at Agios Nikolaos of Crete!

- By Air
From April through October there are direct charter and scheduled flights to Heraklion airport (62km). Tickets can be bought in advance for almost all flights via our partner website.

- By Sea
The journey is the thing". A superb way of enjoying the journey to Crete is to fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus (Pireas) - the port serving Athens. A still-romantic way to travel by the overnight ferry from Piraeus to Heraklion Port (64km from the Hotel). Tickets can be bought in advance for all ferries via our partner website.

Candia Park Village, one large main pool is surrounded by several kiddy pools; a grassy slope tumbles down to a glorious strip of sandy beach fringed with pine trees.

A path leading further along the rocky coastline has a sprinkling of private jetties with sunbeds (ladders descend to the sea).

There are volleyball and tennis courts, a supermarket selling food and drinks at competitive prices. and a mini club for tots (classes include cookie making and stone painting). Older kids have pool tables and a room full of video games. The coin-operated self-service laundry is a (typically) thoughtful touch.
