Samaria Gorge - Small Group Tour, enjoy a guided 16km hike through the longest and most impressive of Europe’s limestone gorges, a magnificent example of Crete’s many gorges, stretching from the White Mountains down to the Libyan sea.

Samaria or the Samaria Gorge is one of the main sights of Crete, the second most visited (following the Minoan palace of Knossos) and by far the most popular walk. Every tourist who visits Crete will have heard of this beautiful gorge or soon will. The locals call it the “Farangas” or “Great Gorge”, both in admiration at its beauty and to differentiate it from the many other, smaller gorges of Crete.

The Small Group Tour :

We leave early in the morning and passing through several beautiful villages we reach the plateau of Omalos. Our hike will last approximately 6 hours and will take us, along a breathtaking and constantly changing landscape, to Agia Roumeli, a laid back coastal village by the South coast, accessible only by boat.

The tour will allow you a chance to experience this must-see natural phenomenon at a slower pace, attended to by a specialized guide.

At the base of the gorge you can enjoy a refreshing swim and lunch at one of the local tavernas.

After an hour’s sail to the nearby port, you will be transferred back to Chania in the evening.

First-hand knowledge from guests who’ve been joined our tour.

Dear Yiannis, Thank you for your email. I completed your Samaria Gorge Small Group Tour along with my husband. It was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Crete. The reasons why enjoyed it so much were: · The convenience of being picked up and dropped back to our hotel and not having to worry about catching public transport. · The knowledge of our guide. She was very informative about the cultural and natural history of the gorge. · The convenience of having our return ferry trip organised for us. · Being picked up from the ferry by the private bus and avoiding the frenzy of trying to find a bus to catch back to Chania. · And of course, the experience of walking this breath-taking part of Crete. We were lucky to strike a day of good weather because the gorge had been closed for a day or two prior due to high winds. I'm so glad and thankful for our luck because we departed Crete the following day. Kind regards and I hope you have enjoyed a glorious summer in Crete.

Kalimera Giannis, We have left the wonderful sunshine and returned home to a very wet and windy UK. We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the Samaria Gorge trip - fantastic! Most importantly to say how good our guide Sonia was. She ensured that everyone was OK and safe throughout the trip, even though people walked at different speeds. Please thank her again for us and thanks to you for reorganising the trip following the gorge closure. Kind regards
- Nick

Kalimera Yiannis, The Samaria experience was excellent - the mini bus was very good - clean, well looked after and prompt with the pickups and Spiros was an excellent driver.  Our guide, Linda, was very knowledgeable and briefed us well prior to the walk.  She was very attentive to the older couple in our group when one of them had a fall and took some skin off.  We all walked at our own pace so were scattered through the Gorge, which was fine!  We had a good lunch at the Rousios Taverna at the coast.  All in all, it was a very good day - even if my muscles are a bit sore now. I hope this is helpful. Warm regards
- Ermie

Kalimera Yiannis, I just wanted to thank you and your team for this wonderful tour we've had yesterday! Everything was superb, Lynda our tourguide (hopefully I wrote her name correctly) is a lovely person, she told us so many interesting things about Crete and the Gorge itself. I would like to ask if I could find this tour or your agency somwhere on TripAdvisor or anywhere else where I can give you a five star rating? Thanks again, have a wonderful weekend,
- Lia

Kalimera Yiannis, Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip down the Samaria Gorge yesterday with Linda. We had a lovely time and thought Linda was an excellent guide. Also please thank Spiro for looking after us so well in the minibus. We sadly only have a few days here for our first time in Crete but we plan to return and we will be booking some more of your trips next time! Thank you and warm wishes,
- Vanessa

HI Yiannis Thx for the follow up It was all excellent thankyou - no complaints at all and we had a great day Many thanks Kind regards,
- Susie

Hi! The tour was 3 out of 5 so ok, but not as good as I expected. The reason is that the guide was walking to fast even when the group said so. She said we needed to beacause it would be to hot to stay in the ravine long. I prefer more and longer breaks when it is 33 degrees celcius and there was actually time for it. The goal was reached very long before the Ferry left. Over 2 hours.
- Elsa

Hey It was an amazing tour with the greatest guide. We will for shure use you again next time in Creata All the best and have a great Sunday
- Michael

We had a great time on the Gorge walk – definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Sonia was great, and we enjoyed meeting the other members of the group. Given the distance from Australia to Crete, we probably won’t be back in a hurry. But we have been recommending Crete as a destination to others here. Thanks,
- Patrick

Hello, We really enjoyed our hike in the Gorge, and our visit to Crete! We will be back. I just wanted to say that Linda, our guide, was fabulous, friendly, giving helpful hints and allowing members of the group to hike at their pace while keeping in touch with us all. 5 STARS to Linda, please say thank you to her from us! Sincerely,
- Pamela and Andrew!

Kalimera Yiannis It was fantastic, thank you. We had such a good, but tiring day. I think we slightly underestimated the terrain of the gorge, but managed to complete it in 5.5 hours I can't sing Olga's praises enough - she was perfect. Very personable, approachable and with a great and details knowledge of Crete Regards
- John

Dear Giannis, We wanted to respond and let you know how wonderful the Samaria Gorge tour was thanks to you and your employees. It was super convenient to be picked up in our village and taken back at the end of the long day. Natalia was our tour guide. We cannot say enough about how wonderful she is! She is pleasant, knowledgable, and patient. We had some in our group who had some difficulty with the hike. She stuck by their sides the entire time and gave them nothing but encouragement. I do believe they would not have been able to complete the hike without her. We all loved her stories and information about the island and the wonderful Cretan people and customs. We would all highly recommend your tour to anyone considering the hike. Ioannis was our driver. He was also wonderful! He took the tough curves very gently. Some our our group are prone to car sickness and he maneuvered the roads gracefully. We want to thank you with all our hearts for one of the high points of an amazing week in Crete. All the best,
- Rebecca and Mathew C.

Good Afternoon Yiannis and Linda, Just a note to say THANK YOU to all the team that made my Samaria Gorge hike a pleasure. Linda is amazing. She showed up on time and she knows how to guide her clients in a very reassuring way. She is a good team leader. She knows the gorge very well and I felt all along that she kept looking out for my safety. Both drivers were courteous and professional. Thank You,
- Peter G S.

Hi Giannis, My experience on the Samaria Gorge small group tour will be in my memory forever. Even though I slept in because I had not realised that Greece time was an hour difference to Italy time, Linda, the tour guide waited for me. (I probably only took 5 minutes as I'd prepared everything the night before.) The driver of the bus negotiated all those twists and turns on the way to the gorge with ease. You felt secure with his driving skills. And the views on the way were wonderful. The drive back from the boat in the evening was equally as well done as the morning. Linda managed superbly with me as the only Australian client, the other six being French. She also kept an eye on me as the oldest in the group. The pace of the tour was gradual and we had adequate time to enjoy the impressive scenery of the gorge. I have been given one of your cards and when I get home i will get my family to help me put a post on your Facebook page and also on TripAdvisor. Thank you for accommodating me on this trip.

Hello hello..... Lovely to hear from you. Yes we had a wonderful day!! Definitely recommend it. We had never hiked but had a reasonable level of fitness. So glad we went with yourselves. The whole day was organised well. Enjoyed the Samaria gorge smaller group atmosphere more. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Crete and I'm sure we will be back another time. Many thanks for your help and assistance. Best wishes
- Manbir

We really enjoyed it. One thing that could be done better: slightly slower walking pace with more time to take photos along the way.
- Fionna W.

Hi Yiannis, I had a really lovely day from start to finish – the guide was excellent, and the restaurant she recommended at the end was fabulous. For me, no improvements needed. If I come to Crete again (which I hope I will), I will walk the gorge with your company again! Best
- Jenny

Everything was perfect! Very professional service and outstanding guide!!! Thanks for checking in. Please if I can leave a positive feedback anywhere, do let me know. Thanks again,

We enjoyed both very much.  Both guides were very good as were both drivers.  We found our Knossos guide to be particularly helpful for the museum tour.  We would not have gotten nearly as much out of it without him.
