This is one of those lucky bays that rarely experience much more than a ripple, even when the sailors are choosing to avoid a rougher sea further out in the blue yonder! The beach is a sand, pebble and shingle frontage, the water clear - just a few steps away across the beachfront small road.

Glaros Apartments is an ideal place for couples looking for a romantic retreat by the water, or for families seeking the perfect beachfront base for their holidays. Without the customary crowds to spoil the view, a stretch of lawn is all that separates you from the sand and sea on your doorstep and the versatile accommodation, complete with kitchenette, makes the question of dining in or out an enviable dilemma. When you’re not in the mood for catering, the owner’s beach bar is just a stone’s throw away, offering delicious breakfasts and a tempting choice of snacks and fresh drinks throughout the day, whilst a couple of tavernas within easy walking distance serve excellent local food with stunning sea views.
For an active day, there is windsurfing at the surf club on the south side of the bay, just a 15 minute walk from your bungalow apartment - continue your enjoyment of this sport or try it for the first time, an experience that elemental feeling of wind in your hair, sun on your skin and while enjoying whisking along on your small craft, which is more like a shoe for water than anything else, carried along by the fair wind.
A short drive away, charming Palekastro remains a traditional agricultural town, with all amenities and a selection of traditional tavernas-restaurants at the attractive square.
On another day perhaps you may cover a bit more of Crete's land and villages - on the drive to Kato Zakros which will take about forty minutes, perhaps allow more for stops on your scenic route to enjoy the views and things of interest. Go to Kato Zakros which apart from having one of the largest archaeological sites just by the beach, has a far-away peaceful, end-of-the-road beach and small seafront, with a handful of tavernas serving all the food that you could wish to enjoy by the sea.
Closer, it may be time to motor down to Vai beach and enjoy the pine forest...arrive early before the sightseers and then move on to Itanos, Roussou or Petanou archaeological sites to get a sense of the age - a different age - of this area you are relaxing in, breathing in the pure sea air and enjoying perhaps, sunshine!
Why We Like It
- Short stroll to beach and tavernas.
- Kouremenos beach has fine brown sand, shallow turquoise waters (i.e. relatively warm in the early season), and several tamarisk trees around.
- A great option for windsurfers, as the main feature of Kouremenos, is the wind. Indeed, the wind here is so strong that the area is popular with windsurfers and kite surfers across Europe.
- Just a perfect base to discover the quieter, lovely eastern Crete ... for outdoor activities and spectacular landscapes and such unique attractions as the historic monastery of Toplou and Vai's famous palm-lined beach and picturesque villages.
Good To Know
- The Glaros Apartments are a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Heraklion. However, you can fly to Sitia and the hotel is just a half-hour drive away.
- Hiring a car is a must and will allow you to explore the area better.

It consists of a separate bedroom and two single beds in the living room. It features a safe and a kitchenette with a fridge and cooking hobs.
Studios (up to 2 people, 25m²): Opening to a bougainvillea-covered patio, this air-conditioned studio enjoys views over the garden or the Libyan Sea. It features a safe and a kitchenette with a fridge and cooking hobs.

All Glaros Apartments have a kitchen area with a kitchenette with hob, fridge-freezer, and quite a good option would be to check your cooking creativity with good local products of the area.
When you’re not in the mood for catering, the owner’s beach bar-restaurant is just a stone’s throw away, offering delicious breakfasts and a tempting choice of snacks, local dishes and drinks throughout the day, whilst a couple of great tavernas within easy walking distance serve excellent local fare in charmingly authentic surroundings.

Cancellation Policy: - Up to 4 weeks before arrival - full refund.
- After that period, the deposit is not refundable, in addition, if you cancel.
- Not arriving at the hotel for your booking: the full balance will be charged (at the hotel's discretion).

How To Get There
Glaros Apartments is located just 20m away from the sandy beach of Kouremenos and 2.5km from Palekastro on the quiet east coast of Crete.
By Air
From April through October there are direct charter and scheduled flights to Heraklion airport 156 Km. and also to Chania airport 295 km. Besides, the airstrip at Sitia has been upgraded to accept international flights in summer. Tickets can be bought in advance for almost all flights via our partner website.
By Sea
If you love traveling by ferry, reserve a flight to Athens and then from Piraeus port to Heraklion by ferry. It takes 8 hours and the ferries are good. There are less frequent, slower sailings from Piraeus to Sitia. Tickets can be bought in advance for all ferries via our partner website.
By Car
